Tailess Winter the Dolphin

"The baby bottlenose dolphin was found caught in a buoy linen near Cape Canaveral when she was only 3 months old, and was left missing a vital body part. The line had blocked the blood flow to her tail flukes, causing her tail to wither and drop off, leaving her with only a rounded stump. But now marine scientist Steve McCulloch, director of the aquarium where she now lives, wants to fit her with a new tail to get her back in action. She can move around without a tail by using her fins as paddles, but of course she can't keep up with the adult dolphins who can swim at 25 mph. She wont be able to even if she does get a prosthetic tail, but she will be able to get around a lot more easily than she currently can."
