One of the 200 remaining books of bird engravings by James Audubon's sold at auction for almost $8,000,000 this past week.
The five-volume, hand-colored tome, completed between 1827 and 1838, belonged to England’s Duke of Portland. About 3½ feet tall, it includes life-sized illustrations of the avian species of North America.
