Hapa Project
As a bi-racial person and gravitating towards mixed race people, I thought this
project by a half Asian was interesting. Kip Fullbeck took photos of Hapas (originally a derogatory label derived from the Hawaiian word for “half,” Hapa has since been embraced as a term of pride by many whose mixed racial heritage includes Asian or Pacific Island descent) gave them each a blank sheet of paper to describe themselves. Each page was scanned in and posted with their photo in a book. Some sample pages are on the site below.
