Emosexual/Homosexual Hatred

Here in Houston I have noticed so many Emo styled Mexican teenagers and thought it was cool. After looking up info on Emos on google, I found out how persecuted Emo kids had become:

A wave of anti-emo violence has descended on Mexico. The first reported instance occurred on March 7th, when 800 young people came to the city of Queretaro with the sole purpose of finding emo kids to beat up. The anti-emo movement has propagated from message boards and social-network sites led by youths who dislike “the emo look and attitude.”

One person wrote on a government youth-website forum, "detesto a los emosexuales," which translates as "I hate emosexuals." Emosexual is an obvious play on homosexual, especially in Spanish, where the H is silent.

Emo subculture is identified with homosexuality in Mexico. As Mexico City youth worker Victor Mendoza told Time.com: "At the core of this is the homophobic issue."

Many of the attacks have been planned, or at least fomented, on violently anti-emo websites like Movimiento Anti Emosexual, which features videos of physical violence sprinkled liberally with anti-gay sentiment.

MultiReal

Book to in the Jump 225 Trilogy - More than 400 years from now, human civilization has quite expectedly been through a lot. We experienced the Autonomous Revolt, when artificial minds caused the deaths of billions. There followed various economic, societal and environmental contortions and upheavals and reconfigurings, resulting in a completely novel way of life. And now, thanks to the hard work of millions of individuals—both anonymous and famous—the Earth and its off-planet settlements are home to 60 billion people, nearly all of whom spend a good portion of their lives in the multi.

Brian Hughes made this up, but it will probably come about.
