Nessus Sphinx

My BFFs, Klinka & Dina, Eric & I were in the backyard after supper on Saturday. Flying around the agapanthus was something looked like a large bee with 2 pronounced yellow stripes on its abdomen. At a closer look it looked like a hummingbird. Eric took this picture
of it and he and Dina figured out it was a Nessus Sphinx or a Hummingbird Moth.

It is a nature preserve in our yard that backs up to a small bayou. In the past month we have had raccoons under the house, a bird was in the house after it had fell through the chimney and all other manner of urban animals all about.
